I just returned (a couple months ago...so not really just...sorry) from a Department of Defense tour in Japan and Korea...wow. 11 flights, 4 bus-rides, 6 military bases in 13 days...good times. First off I despise the war and would rather have a shaved monkey as a our president than the moron who currently sits in that chair. With that said, I have nothing but respect for our soldiers overseas doing their job. They welcomed me with open arms and really appreciated the entertainment. I was blown away by their hospitality. We ate Kimchi, sushi of questionable nature, drank Hite beer, Sake, ate mystery meat sticks at 2am from the local cart, checked out juicy bars (look it up) and of course sang Karaoke with the locals. If you want to have a good time with a little sketchiness added in then you must get drunk on the town with bunch of Marines. The few, the proud, the out of control. Be safe and come home soon.

Strip Malls and Drunk-holes

Last night I found myself wondering the scenic streets of the Tanasbourne area. Strip malls are not only a fetish of mine but also a place where the wide-eyed consumer can loose themselves in shoes and Cinnabons. It is a sacred place burdened with concrete- the flashy little brother to the actual Mall. You can only imagine my pure joy when I was told my show would take place in such a land. Folks gathered in the bar at Old Chicago waiting for...not a show but to actually get served. I took the stage only to realize the front table consisted of four men, three teeth and several empty shot glasses. These fecal specimens where incable of controling their miniscule thoughts. These masterminds of Methville yelled out unrelatable, slurred half thoughts to the tune of, "you should be that shit man go". Needless to say, the show was not in the top fifty of my career but I'll always have my memories...unfortunately.

St. Helens erupted

So it blew again causing all Portlandia to face north to witness mother nature at her grandeous best. Then it was 24 hour coverage of the smoke plume on most cable stations. Unfortunately I'm working on a modest comics salary so digital cable is out of my price range. Instead of watching an episode of Seinfeld that I've seen over twenty times or the riveting drama of Blind Date I watched smoke clouds. Sure, it's an opprotunity to read or better myself but what's the point when there is nothing on TV. Once again mother nature interupted important things in life. Lately it's been 70 degrees in early March and mountains are blowing up. Sure we're fucking up our environment but bring on more Seinfeld, less "real" life complications and of course more reasons to stay inside.

Since we last talked "W" was voted back into office, another 300 or so American soldiers have lost their lives in Iraq and all my unemployed friends are still unemployed. Just as long as our country can assure the top 1% of the economy that they can buy another SUV or summer home in Cancun we should function like a well oiled (no pun intended...oiled...Iraq...you get it) machine. So life moves on and I find myself still telling jokes and living the dream. I'll be in Pendleton on Friday, November 19 for a big show at the Wildhorse Casino. If you haven't bought my CD or seen my live set you might think about doing so because with shows like that it's not long until I'm big time. I wish you all peace and good health because if your like me you don't have medical insurance. Thanks W.

MOLLALLA- Longbranch Bar and Grill
Here are some of the highlights. About ten minutes into my set a shaggy haired mutant made his way from the back of the bar, up to the stage, stood in front of me and dropped his drawers. I came face to face with this neaderthal man and his disturbing junk. Being a professional I promptly screamed like a little girl and bolted across the stage towards the furthest point from the rogue weiner. After what seemed to be some sort of Bigfoot-shuffle-dance my new friend wondered back to the bar and was promptly served another unneccessary drink. Good fun, good folks, apparently incredible drugs. Mollalla, I'll be back soon especially if I ever decide to take up Meth.

Eugene Treats

Finally I was back home after being gone so long. Whence I was lost so was I found in the comfortable arms of Eugene, Oregon. Sure I'm a Duck Alum and spend too much time at Autzen Stadium during football season but last weekend it was standup that brought me to the other Emerald City. We ate, drank and were merry until the last punchline was delivered and the twenty-something, scantely dressed dance crowd filtered in. Comedy ended and the meat market began. Lonna and I found the door out into the night with another great memory of Eugene to take home. Let's do it again soon.

Oz Man Rocketh

When you think comedy, you think Lucky's Pizzeria in Salem, Oregon. Ron Osborne headlined, I middled and Pistol Pete opened the show. Good times, free beers and a middle aged crowed that apparently just got out of a Night Ranger concert. I haven't seen that much denim since...my last Night Ranger concert. So Salem- "Where are you going? What are you looking for? You know they don't want to play no more with you...it's true."

The Mullets, the Toothless and the Tri-Cities

The neverending trek on I-84 towards the Tri-Cities can make a man ponder his place in life. From the mullets of Troutdale to the poor denistry demonstrated in Hood River the journey along the mighty Columbia river can only be compared to Peter stepping into the wardrobe for the first time. Except this Narnia has jacked-up penis trucks and the Turkish Delight is replaced by Slim-Jims (this reference has run it's course and hopefully you're still reading). My insanity began to flare up after the third hour in the car which was evident by my boisterous renditions of Huey Lewis and the News-the entire Sports album. Did he really want a new drug or was it a metaphore describing his longing for love of another? HL always blows my mind. So 82 turned into 180 or was it 182 into 84, too much math, god bless Mapquest. Finally the sign I was looking for appeared- "Welcome to the Tri-Cities". There were no tears, no laughter, only periodic screams followed by massive cramping because the coffee from The Dalles kicked in with a bowel-breaking vegence. The joy that not one, not two, but three cities should bring a weary traveler was overshadowed but I made it to the wonderful Clarion Towers Hotel in time. The rest of the weekend consisted of three kick-ass shows and a chance to work with Rod Long, who was very funny. My long winded ass is now signing off. Talk to you after Salem.
